It was unseasonably cold on Sunday but there was a Japan Expo event being held in the Jardin d'Acclimatation near Pont de Neuilly. The highlight was to be a cosplay exhibition at 4pm. Because of the intermittent rain showers the show was put back until 5pm and that gave me more opportunity to wander around and enjoy some questionably healthy Japanese fast food.
While strolling through the park it was apparent that there were dozens of people entering into the cosplay concept. Some had put in a lot of effort while others (mainly the guys) had invested in very dubious 'onesies' usually brown or pink with some sort of tail.
It must be my age because, for the life of me I can't see why you would want to dress up like that. But, as the saying goes "different strokes for different folks" and besides who am I to judge.
As it turned out most of the costume wearing public were simply entering into the spirit of the day as only six people actually took part in the stage demonstration. Some exotic and very time-consuming handicraft work having gone into preparing their outfits. There was no judging and no prizes which once again left me feeling more than a touch puzzled as to why they would bother. Ah well - it was colourful at least.
